South of the imperial Marrakech, rises the magnificent Atlas Range with amazing valleys, lush plateaus and authentic Berber villages. It is the perfect invironement for a family adventure, assisted by a qualified Berber guide and a team of muleteers and mules, adults and children will enjoy a unforgettable experience in the heart of the Berber Land!
At your hotel, you will be met by your guide and drive south towards the Atlas Mountains and the lush Zat Valley. We meet our muleteers and start our challenging climb towards the ridge of the Djebel MagHour. From the pass, you will enjoy the fantastic views of the first Atlas High peaks and the green Yagour Plateau. In this area, villagers from the valleys around perpetuate a secular transhumance tradition. Each year they bring up their herds to graze from July and leave the high plateaus at the first snow falls. Today you will have walked one of these routes and camp on the foothill of the imposing Mont Meldsen (3695m), our camp is pitched in a lovely spot at 2200m high, (Meals: B, L, D).
Today is a cool walking day, we are going to follow the red sandstone gorges of oued Timlilt. At the Azib Adarnan, you will discover one the most amazing prehistoric sites of the high Atlas! On sandstone slabs, prehistoric Lybico Berbers left some superb carved rocks representing: Humans, animals from sub Sahara, weapons ... Our walk carries on between lush terraces and a beautiful "forest" of old juniper trees. Our loop end at the same camp near the stream of Timlilt, (B, L, D)..
After breakfast, we head towards the western slopes of the Yagour. You will overhang the beautiful Ourika Valley, surrounded by the Atlas "Giant" peaks. The path snakes down through a narrow gorge before we cross the beautiful villages of Anamer. We will then climb towards Tizi n'Acheg where our camp will be set in another great location, (Meals: B, L, D).
For our last stages with our mules and muleteers we will take a hillside path that will lead us to our meeting point with our minibus in the lush Ourika Valley. After farewell to our muleteer team, a very short transfer will take us to back to your hotel in Marrakech. (Meals : B, L).
